BOCAS DEL TORO

COLON
Located at the entrance of the Panama Canal on the Atlantic side. Colon is the second largest and most important city in Panama. It has three major ports of the country, Cristobal, Manzanillo, and France Field. It also has the port of Colon 2000 Cruises. With these ports it turned Colon into port city, a major business center, and the largest free trade zone in the world. These ports have been doing business for nearly 50 years and have nearly 1600 International representatives. Here you can purchase a variety of international items at trader market prices.

It may surprise you to know, that Panama also has mountains. The mountains of San Blas, Bagre, Pirre and Sapo. Which rise from 4921 to 5905 feet above sea level. It also has two important rivers, the Chucunaque and Tuira.
The Darien National Park is considered one of the most important natural reserves in the country. Occupying most of the province and covering an area of 1430 acres has a vast ecosystem. It was declared a World Heritage Site in 1983 by UNESCO. Most notably this site is, the area is home to the Harpia Eagle, Panamas National Bird. This ecosystem is known as one of the world's best areas for bird watching, and for its adventurous travels

San Blas is a region of great beauty. The women wear the famous multicolored molas. The molas are regarded as one of the most sophisticated crafts from Latin America. The Craft is the "mole", and is classified as one as the most beautiful indigenous costumes in the world. They are made using cotton fabrics with bright colors, geometric and abstract designs with a reflection of scenic daily life embroidered on them, They also have items of pure gold that women use to adorn the garments. The chaquira necklaces are also produced in the region.
This area is characterized by them keeping true to their customs. Tourists are only allowed into the areas by permission of the chieftain or by permit.
